Today, the hosting company is a well-recognized brand name in shared hosting solutions for small to medium-sized businesses and individuals. Unlike most other web hosts, FatCow offers only one hosting plan – which is their trademarked Original FatCow Plan.
At this time of writing, FatCow offers one hosting plan, the Original FatCow Plan, and one domain parking plan, the MiniMoo.Their hosting plan, which is shared web hosting, offers unlimited disk storage, bandwidth, and addon domain in one single hosting accounts.
*Special note: We offer special promotion on FatCow. With our special promo link, customers get up to 50% discount on FatCow hosting plan – translate that to montly cost, that’s $3.67/mo for unlimited web hosting.

FatCow – Editor’s Review
There are both advantages and disadvantages in FatCow hosting. In overall, we think FatCow hosting is a great webhosting company. On a side note, we would like to mention that the user experience at FatCow website is remarkably good. The hosting company provides concise information as well as simple and direct hosting plan. We think such approach is extremely useful for the not-so-technical webmasters and beginners.
Listed below are the pros and cons of their service.
What’s good about FatCow Hosting?
- Cheap! FatCow cost less than $5 per month ($3.67/mo to be exact) under our special promotion scheme.
- Quality budget hosting – one of the best hosting services in this price range.
- Reliable web servers with good uptime record.
- Unlimited hosting capacity – host all your websites and blogs in one hosting account.
- Supreme 24/7 customer supports – service quality backed by HeiferCratic Oath, where the company pledge to answer phone calls in 2 minutes andresolve issues on first contacts.
- Simple and direct hosting plan – smooth ordering process that cut most confusions for first timers.
- Clear trial and refund policy , customers get up to 30 days of trial period.
What’s bad about FatCow Hosting?
- Limited database capacity – users are only allowed to setup 5 MySQL databases in default (you might appeal and ask for more though).
- Does not provide different level hosting – customers who wish to upgrade to semi-dedicated or dedicated hosting will need to move web host.
Conclusion: Is FatCow a good host?
FatCow hosting is recommended for those who are looking for cheap but yet reliable web hosting. FatCow has a long trackable history (more than a decade!) and we are strongly convinced that they are one of the best budget web host. However, due to constraints of its business nature (limited MySQL and limited hosting choice), we think FatCow is not recommendable for large business website.
FatCow Uptime Review

We host website on and track its server uptime constantly. As from what we observed, FatCow hosting has a remarkable server uptime record where the low cost hosting is averaging more than 99.7% server uptime all year long. We think such performance is very much accpetable for its price range and we recommend them to anyone who are searching for a budget web host.
For your reference, figure on right side shows FatCow Hosting uptime statistic for the past 7 days.

I canceled my Websitesource account last week after 7 or so years of service. I canceled Justhost after 2 days of service. Some fellow Apple users recommended Fatcow, I took the plunge…very happy so far.
1 – For me, the annual cost is a bit more than justhost, and much less than websitesource.
2 – Interfacing with clients via FTP is MUCH easier than with Justhost’s convoluted log-in methods. For someone working in audio/video, ease of use is IMPERATIVE.
3 – Tech support is LIVE and fast. The reps are very nice, ala websitesource’s reps a few years back. Also, the reps actually directly answer your queries unlike justhost, who seem to provide generic, unhelpful answers, and websitesource, who these days try to blame everything on you and/or hackers.
4 – Fatcow’s vibe is much more relaxed than other hosts, and they seem more concerned about helping paying customers.
5 – Within 3 hours of signing up, my site is running in all aspects!
So far so good, but time will tell!

I have been a customer of Fat Cow for 6 years. Only to discover that some time ago they lowered their pricing but did not pass on the savings to their most loyal customers. I won’t lie, their technical support is excellent. But their customer service needs improving.
When I contacted Fat Cow regarding the pricing I got ” sorry for the inconvenience, but there is nothing I can do” when I told them I was canceling, still nothing. Their cancellation policy definitely socks it to you. Even though I’m only in the first month of the year of service I paid for, I’ll only get back about half of what I paid. It’s still enough for me to get web hosting elsewhere for a year. (Hint: They ranked higher on the list than Fat Cow and with the same or more services) Beware of Fat Cow and read all the fine print.
I’m surprised in this economy they would rather lose a customer than give them what they are owed.

I have only one complaint about FatCow. I paid for a year, cancelled 2 days later, and only got part of my money back. Everywhere you look on-line it says they have a money-back guaranteed. Beware. There are options that they “highly recommend,” such as back-up and security, but those options are not refundable. You have to dig thru their site to find that particular information. I find it very poor customer service to not be up-front about that. I have not ever that issue with any other web-host ever.

Watch out, people. That crossed out price that you THINK is their normal rate is a farce. Once my first year was over, the rate doubled. DOUBLED. So that little $3.67 vs. $4.83 is a flat out lie. They won’t reward their customers in any way after that first year. told me that there was “nothing they could do,” despite the fact that I saw pricing that was BETTER than my original rate. Heck, I would’ve been fine with a small increase, but to go from $55/year to $99 is just flat out ridiculous. Great customer service, FatBastardCow.
